Adobe Upgrades Mobile Flash

By James Quintana Pearce - Mon 01 Oct 2007 12:44 AM PST

Adobe (NSDQ: ADBE) Systems has released a new mobile version of Flash Player, Flash Lite 3, with Nokia (NYSE: NOK) and DoCoMo (NYSE: DCM) already committing to use the new software in their new phones. “Gary Kovacs, in charge of marketing at Adobe’s mobile unit, called Flash Lite 3 “the most significant advance we’ve made in mobile” and said it brought Adobe closer to being able to release software versions for mobile and desktop simultaneously” reports Reuters. Nokia has launched a developer support program for the Flash Lite 3 dubbed Creative Pros to help developers use the software create business opportunites around mobile devices (release).

Adobe claimed that there are more than 300 million mobiles with previous versions of Flash, and predicted that more than a billion Flash-enabled handsets would be available by 2010.
