AdStar Plans To Acquire Relevantis In All-Stock Deal, Expand Ad Services To Mobile

By David Kaplan - Tue 01 Apr 2008 10:58 PM PST

Online ad systems manager AdStar said it plans to acquire Relevantis in an all-stock deal to expand its service offerings into mobile. Additional details about the transaction’s terms weren’t disclosed.

Kirkland, Wash.-based Relevantis, which was formed in 2003, has contextual and behavioral ad products designed for mobile sites. It also allows developers to integrate geo-targeted ads onto devices like the Apple iPhone as well as mobile websites. Relevantis CEO Scott Searle will become SVP, chief strategy officer at AdStar. Both companies say the acquisition will be completed in early May. The merger grew out of an earlier marketing arrangement between the two. For Marina del Rey-based AdStar, which is mainly known for its e-commerce payment services and online ad management systems for web publishers, the acquisition will allow it to position itself as more of a full service agency.
