@ CTIA: CBS Mobile Will Simulcast Final Four On V Cast Mobile TV

By Staci D. Kramer - Tue 27 Mar 2007 10:24 AM PST

The CBS Mobile Network programming slate is out—plans include live sports programming, 12 “entertainment” series from multiple dayparts and four CBS News programs. The live sports gets a boost with simulcast of the Final Four Saturday and Monday. The shows include all of the CSIs; soap operas As The World Turns, Guiding Light and Y&R; four other primetime shows; David Letterman and Craig Ferguson; 60 Minutes; CBS Evening News with Katie Couric; and a half-dozen CSTV shows plus live sports. Some shows will be simulcast; others are time-shifted.
-- I know I go overboard a bit with March Madness and the like but this is a big step for CBS and the NCAA. Unfortunately, viewership will be extremely narrow given the limited Verizon rollout—23 cities for now—and a small pool of subs. (It could be argued that’s why the network is comfortable with the trial.) Most of us will still need Sling Mobile, Orb or the like to follow the games by phone. And, yes, I know that’s still a small group, too.
