Earnings: SK Telecom Revenue Up 6.75 Percent Year-On-Year

SK Telecom reported its first quarter earnings results for the 3 months ending March 31st. Net income reached 396.3 billion won (US$472.2 million), a year-on-year increase of 17.54 percent. Sales grew 6.75 percent year-on-year to 2.71 trillion won (US$2.92 billion), and its customer base grew 2.3 percent in the first quarter to 20.73 million subscribers, more than half of South Korea’s 40 million mobile phone users. ARPU was 44,142 won (US$47.49). As noted in Earthlink’s earnings Helio lost $63.1 million during the quarter. SK Telecom plans to make additional investments in the company. “We are considering a capital increase for the service but details such as when and how much the re-capitalization would be have yet to be determined,” said SK Telecom’s CFO Ha, reported Yonhap News.
