French start-up Goojet has raised 2.3 million euros ($3.38 million) in its first round of funding, led by venture capital firms Partech International, Elaia Partners and IRDI (via blognation). The Toulouse-based company, which competes with start-ups Webwag and Widsets, develops mobile widgets based on Java MIDP2 technology and will launch a beta version tomorrow. Details are thin on the specifics of the services, but Goojet says it will allow people to customize their phone by “organizing their mobile space” either through the web or through their mobile phones to pick the most useful services to them. It will also have a social network sharing service.
