By Rafat Ali - Wed 28 Nov 2007 10:05 AM PST

Bill Stone, till recently the president of the shuttered MVNO service Amp’d, has joined mobile software and content retailer Handango as the new CEO. Founder Randy Eisenman will remain “actively engaged with the company and board in areas including corporate strategy, strategic partners and acquisitions,” the company said.

Handango was founded in 1999 and based in Hurst, Texas. It was started as an aggregator and distributor of applications for PDAs. Since 2004, the company transitioned its focus to the smartphone market, and has since become a smartphone content retailer for both consumers and partners, including carriers, handset manufactures, and mobile operating systems. The company raised a big $60 million round last year.
