Disney (NYSE: DIS) and ESPN Media Networks have appointed Tim Connolly to the new position of VP-mobile distribution. Prior to this, he was VP of sales and business development at Ericsson (NSDQ: ERIC), where he was working with T-Mobile and AT&T.
In this new position he will be responsible for creating “strategic relationships across the wireless industry on behalf of ABC Mobile, ABC News, Disney Channel and ESPN, with a primary focus on growing the distribution of linear mobile video, mobile VOD and mobile web services with wireless service providers, handset manufacturers and others.”
Staci adds: A little more on this because it speaks to changes in the way mobile content is being handled. Connolly is in the Affiliate Sales and Marketing Group—the group that handles linear channels sales to cable and satellite. It’s a start to bringing the video distribution strategy together instead of arbitrary divisions by platform.
