MobiTV, the heavily-funded mobile video distributor, which was looking for a CEO for a few months now, has finally found one: Charlie Nooney ..he will start Oct. 15. Nooney will step down as president of Technicolor Network Services and give up his role as chairman of the board of cinema advertising firm ScreenVision, a company partly owned by Technicolor parent Thomson (NYSE: TOC). to take this new position, reports THR. Before Technicolor and ScreenVision, Nooney was CEO of Premier Retail Networks, operator of the largest in-store TV network, and before that was an executive at Disney (NYSE: DIS).

Privately held MobiTV is old in start-up years--it was founded in 1999--and has already raised $100 million in funding. The company has more than 2 million customers. It does need a kick-in-the-pants to help take the company beyond the early-adopter market. The company is moving in WiMax video distribution, as well as other digital forms.

Founding CEO Phillip Alvelda is leaving to dedicate more time to the Westminster Institute for Science Education, which he co-founded last year with a mission for bettering the nation’s elementary and secondary school science programs.
