InvenSense Raises $19 Million In 3rd Round

InvenSense, which makes motion detecting technology for mobile devices (gyroscopes and accelerometers), has raised $19 in its third round of funding. InvenSense sees a market for its products with new mobile applications such as 3D games and gesture-enabled mobile phones. This brings the total funding to date to $38 million—the company raised $11 million in January. This round was led by by new investor Sierra Ventures whose MD Ben Yu will join the board of directors, previous investors Artiman Ventures, Partech International and Qualcomm (NSDQ: QCOM) Ventures also participating. There were also some strategic investors, including Foxconn, Inventec Appliances Corp, both from Taiwan; Skylake Ventures from Korea; DoCoMo (NYSE: DCM) Capital, a wholly-owned U.S. subsidiary of NTT DoCoMo Japan, and VentureTech Alliance. The funding will be used expand sales operations to support new customers. (release via VentureBeat)
