Kyocera says it will buy Sanyo’s handset division in a deal worth $467 million. After subtracting cash and making other adjustments, the purchase could cost the company around $375 million. Kyocera says the deal will help it strengthen its global telecommunications business by giving it various assets relating to IP and design. In addition to handsets, Kyocera will get certain other wireless equipment. The company plans to keep the Sanyo name on some handsets for an indefinite period. This transaction had been rumored since last summer. The deal is expected to close April 1. Release.
