LightPole Raises First Round For Location-Based Services

SF-based LightPole, a provider of location-based applications, has raised an unspecified first round from Alloy Ventures. The company offers an infrastructure that lets publishers deliver mobile content that takes into account a user’s location. Conversely, users can use the technology for location-based search. It claims a number of content publishers on launch, including Platial, Yelp, Yahoo (NSDQ: YHOO) and, Bathroom Diaries (a database of restroom locations). CEO Doug Klein was previously at Vernier Networks and NuvoMedia, overseeing the development of an eBook. Release.
