Mobile Music Leads Games 3-1 In China: Report

By Tricia Duryee - Tue 12 Feb 2008 01:33 PM PST

Mobile entertainment is popular among the Chinese, with 34.8 percent reporting they listened to mobile music and 10 percent played a downloaded mobile game in December, according to M:Metrics, which has expanded its coverage to China.

In its initial report, M:Metrics also found that Nokia (NYSE: NOK) was the leading handset maker there at 30.9 percent. However, it was the owners of Sony (NYSE: SNE) Ericsson (NSDQ: ERIC) handsets that were the real content users. Owners of a Sony Ericsson device were 1.7 times more likely to send a photo and almost twice as likely to browse the Internet compared to the market average. Release

In a separate report, M:Metrics also found that mobile media users are more responsive to advertising than users of the Internet and that mobile attracts an audience that is not consuming print or online media through a new partnership with BMRB, a firm that examines consumer behavior across mobile, online and offline media. Release.
