-- Google (NSDQ: GOOG) Relaunches Mobile Search Service in the UK: Google UK has launched a new search service for mobile phones, which it says will make searching on handsets faster and more intuitive and include more relevant results. The new service combines search results from the mobile and wired web, rather than breaking them out, and also searches through news articles, local business listings and images. Google has also improved its local search experience, which has been criticized in the past for not returning decent results. It now remembers a user’s recent search location and all subsequent searches provide results localized to that area.
-- TIM Brasil and Google Partner for 3G Content: Brazilian mobile operator TIM Brasil is partnering up with Google to develop 3G content solutions for the local market in what is Google’s first major partnership in Latin America, reports TeleGeography. It will also introduce a mobile version of its video site YouTube. TIM will initially offer the content services over its EDGE network, but later plans to offer it on W-CDMA networks.
-- Mosio Launches Social Q&A Services: San-Francisco based mobile social network start-up Mosio has created a new social question and answer mash-up application Twitter Answers which allows Twitter users to ask questions and have them answered by real people within the Twitter community. They have also used their universal Q&A platform to create a similar service for voice to text service start-up Jott. After linking their account to Mosio, Jott users can simply call 1-866-JOTT-123, say “Mosio” and then ask their question on the phone, and receive a quick text message back with their answer (release).
-- Metacafe To Offer Mobile Videos: Video entertainment company Metacafe—which counts 28 million viewers a month--is partnering with mobile entertainment companies to deliver short-form videos through mobile devices. Partners include Buongiorno (BIT: BNG), Dyuna, and Mobile Streams (SEA: MOS) Inc. Financial terms of the deal were not revealed (release).
