-- Greystripe, which has created a network of ad-supported mobile games, said today that advertising for the “The Golden Compass” created significant increases in awareness of the film, according to statistics gathered by Dynamic Logic Research Group. The ads are as large as the phone’s screen and appear prior to the game starting, rather than the traditional banner or text ads. Because of that, Greystripe said the ads were highly noticed by the overall audience, and that users exposed to the ads exhibited a 19.3 percentage-point increase in awareness for the film’s title. The research firm also found among respondents, 35 percent say they use their mobile phones for “finding theater and movie times,” and 29 percent “watch movie trailers.” And, among those who have seen at least two movies in the past two months, they use the mobile Internet more often than non-frequent moviegoers (79% for frequent movie-goers vs. 58% for non-movie goers).

-- Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) may be in talks with Immersion to licence Haptic Technology for its iPhone, according to Palluxo.com. An unnamed source at Apple said executives at both companies are meeting to discuss licencing and implementation technology that would provide tactile feedback to the iPhone’s touchscreen. The feature, which sends a small vibration to your figure to let you know that you’ve pushed the right button on a screen, has been popular feature in almost all the iPhone look-a-likes. In addition, Palluxo said Immersion recently appointed former Apple executive Clent Richardson to the position of President and CEO.
-- The AP said today it announced that video on its soon-to-be launched Mobile News Network will be delivered by Transpera, a mobile video services provider. Last week, it was announced that Verve Wireless will be providing the technology platform enabling the local and national wireless news service.
-- Australian mobile social networking company Loop Mobile (ASX: LPM) has launched the mobile site for Big Brother 08, which it has run in previous years. The site will allow IM, personal profiles, uploading and sharing videos and photos and will let people participate in promotions and so on. One new feature is the ability to join Loop’s mobile community Moko with a 30-day free pass—a neat way of getting some on-going benefit from the inherently temporary Big Brother franchise. Moko is on 3 Australia, Virgin and Optus, so it’s missing the incumbent Telstra and also Vodafone.
