Mobile Messenger Zannel Raises $10 Million Second Round

By Joseph Weisenthal - Mon 02 Jun 2008 04:14 AM PST

Zannel, a service for sharing content via mobile, has raised a $10 million second round from Alloy Venture and past backers U.S. Venture Partners and Palomar Ventures. This brings its total raise to $16 million. Basically, the service lets users send media-based messages to each other, using what’s been supplied by specifically designated partners. For content providers, the San Francisco-based company offers a ready-made network for their content to ‘go viral’, at least to an extent. It says that the new funding will allow it to expand its platform and build out a new mode of communication. Content providers include Warner Bros., Universal Pictures, New Line Cinema, Capitol Records, Activision (NSDQ: ATVI), and Konami. More details in release here.
