SFR Launches MTV 3G Phone With Special Content, Plans

By James Quintana Pearce - Mon 14 Apr 2008 02:12 PM PST

French operator SFR will launch an MTV-branded phone next week, the MTV3.3, along with limited-time and fixed-cost plans designed to appeal to the young people most likely to want the phone. The 3G slider phone includes MTV content such as videos, logos, wallpapers, original ringtones created by DJ Cut Killer and the MTV Cribs mobile game. The handset will also have easy access to MTV news, four MTV channels and 2 made-for-mobile channels (as far as I can tell from the French press release). People will also be able to download 5 free songs from SFR Music each month, chosen by MTV. Special handset, special plans, special content, MTV brand—but far less risky than launching an MVNO.
