MySpace Officially Launches Ad-Funded Mobile Web Site

By Dianne See Morrison - Tue 18 Mar 2008 03:51 AM PST

imageSocial network MySpace is officially launching its free ad-funded mobile web site, after a trial run in beta mode. The mobile site allows members to access the usual MySpace features, including viewing friends, photo albums, searching for friends, reading and composing messages and posting comments or blog entries. The site is also rolling out a new mobile community on the online site, which will house all of its mobile products and services in one place. It will also be featured prominently on a member’s home page, and encourage them to visit the new mobile area. Previously, MySpace was only available through a subscription on network operator AT&T (NYSE: T) and MVNO Helio. The ad-funded version is available on all networks through the mobile web. In the past few months, social networks have become increasingly popular on mobile phones, and analysts and the nets themselves predict that more and more users will access them from their phones. Aside from MySpace, a number of social nets including Facebook and Bebo have rolled out mobile versions.
