Nokia Concedes Mobile TV Is Slow-Going, ‘In Turmoil’

Nokia (NYSE: NOK) has admitted consumer take-up of mobile TV broadcasting is slower than it expected. ”It’s a bit in a turmoil,” Reuters quotes the handset maker’s internet head Niklas Savander as telling a conference in Helsinki. “We have seen that there are multiple segments who are not interested in the broadcasting, but rather in downloads. Roll-out is slower than also we anticipated a couple of years ago.” DVB-H was recently picked as the European mobile broadcasting standard, which is also backed by Nokia, but subscriptions to services are few and far between. Also not picking up: 3G based mobile video services…
