Nokia Launches UK Music Store

By James Quintana Pearce - Wed 31 Oct 2007 05:19 PM PST

The start of November sees the launch of the UK Nokia Music Store, which will sell individual tracks for 80p (US$1.66), albums for 8 pounds (US$16.64) and a monthly PC streaming subscription for 8 pounds. Nokia (NYSE: NOK) has several payment methods, including credit card and prepaid cards, and people can sideload the songs to the handsets—which is good because Nokia is still in negotiations with carriers over this move. Initially it will only work with the Nokia N81 and Nokia N95 8GB handsets, so don’t expect huge volume sales from the beginning. This is a different strategy from Asia, where Nokia is focused on giving emerging artists a platform. (release)

That is way to expensive. I doubt that they will be successful with these prices in such a crowded market.
