RealNetworks Lays Off 100, Bulk In Asia And Europe; Includes WiderThan

RealNetworks (NSDQ: RNWK) laid off just under 2 percent of its international staff last week—35 from headquarters Seattle, the rest in Asia and Europe. A spokesman told the Seattle P-I the cuts were across the board to reduce “redundancies” from recent acquisitions. In the past two years, Real’s acquisitions include Brazil casual-gaming studio Altrativa, casual-game site GameTrust and US-South Korean mobile music company WiderThan.
