-- Helio has added KushTV to its content line-up. KushTV does original short form programming, such as The Loc Dog Show starring Korn, Perfect Picks with E! Entertainment’s The Olly Girls, DJ Goddess, Beverly Hills Confidential and Ya Boy – Road To Riches, apparently the most downloaded rap artist on MySpace. RCR News notes that “Helio’s subscriber base is up to 140,000 customers and the MVNO claims an average revenue per user of $90.”
-- Spanish-language content producers view mobile as more than an add-on, as an integral part of the interaction with the audience reports Broadcast Newsroom. It’s not just the kids, either… because in many parts of Latin America people have mobiles without ever having had a landline “in many U.S. multigenerational immigrant households, the older generation came to the United States knowing these devices ‘ and demanding content on them...Comcast’s (NSDQ: CMCSA) On Demand en Español service adjusted accordingly. When Comcast had about 100 hours of Spanish-language content, the on-demand service was delivering 500,000 to 750,000 views a month. By adding more movies and music, and appealing to a broader range of viewers than the young adult demos so often targeted by such technology, the operator boosted viewership to 1.5 million views a month.” Comcast isn’t mobile, but similar figures are likely to apply to mobiles.
-- A MIPCOM panel Monday titled “Indian Content on the Move” covered the countries move to become an exporter of media content, and mobile is likely to play a big part of that. “Vishal Gondal, head of video game publisher Indiagames, dismissed television as “boring” for the 54% of Indians under 25. “But games rock,” he said, citing figures that Indians pay for half a million mobile downloads every day, the bulk of them games” reports The Hollywood Reporter.
