Skyfire Launches Browser With Full Web Support, Including Desktop Flash

By James Quintana Pearce - Mon 28 Jan 2008 05:59 PM PST

Skyfire has launched a beta version of its new mobile browser which purports to put the complete web on mobile phones—including desktop Flash, AJAX, QuickTime, streaming video and music and so on. The beta is available free (although at some point a business model will kick in) and works on Windows Mobile devices, with a version for Symbian being planned. Of course, to be effective it will need a high-speed network and unlimited data plan. The iPhone received a lot of accolades for its browser, but also some criticism because it doesn’t support Flash: Opera Mobile supports FlashLite. Engadget has a video demo of the browser, which looks pretty impressive.
