T-Mobile To Launch IPhone In Germany

By James Quintana Pearce - Wed 19 Sep 2007 02:12 AM PST

Germany’s Deutsche Telekom (NYSE: DT) has announced a Wednesday news conference in Berlin, reports AP, and considering the reports that Steve Jobs is in that country on Wednesday it’s not too big a stretch to come out and say T-Mobile will have the iPhone in Germany, which isn’t really a surprise.

Other iPhone news: ComputerWorld has picked up on a comment Jobs made at yesteradays UK conference after his “cat and mouse” quote to argue that Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) will definitely try to stop unlocking hacks. “We try to stay ahead. People will try to break in, and it’s our job to stop them breaking in.” The article points out that it probably wouldn’t be a good idea to unlock the phone anyway since you wouldn’t get free access to the WiFi network The Cloud, and so on. Apparently Apple is planning a 3G version next year, with Pocketlint reporting: “Making the comments at the “Mum is no longer the word” press conference at the Regent Street Apple store in London, Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple said: “You can expect a 3G iPhone later next year”.
