Virgin Mobile Australia Signs On For Moko Community
By James Quintana Pearce - Thu 25 Oct 2007 06:29 AM PST
Loop Mobile has signed a second Australian carrier for its mobile social service Moko. It now runs on Virgin Mobile (NYSE: VM) Australia, an MVNO run by carrier Optus, as well as 3 Australia. Virgin Australia has about 400,000 customers so it’s not a massive deal, but it’s worth getting, especially if it provides an “in” to Optus, the second largest mobile carrier in Australia. Virgin and Loop will run a joint marketing campaign, including a free one-month subscription to Virgin Mobile customers trying out the service...yes, it’s a subscription service, with day passes also available. The deal involves a revenue share agreement on the subscriptions and on user generated content activity. Loop also drops a hint in the release about the “impending launch of Moko Music”, but there’s no details on what that will be. (release)
