Weather The Only Difference In Mobile Browsing Between US And Europe: Report

By James Quintana Pearce - Tue 24 Jul 2007 10:26 AM PST

M:Metrics has released its latest survey results and found that Americans and Europeans (the survey covers the UK, Germany, France, Spain and Italy) have similar habits when surfing the mobile web except that “sports info” tops the destination for Europe and “weather” tops the destinations for the United States. Digging a little deeper we find that it is American females that search the weather so much: For males the different types of sites get the same rankings in both the US and Europe...sports info, news, weather, entertainment news, maps & directions. Between females the lists are similar except for the high interest in weather amongst American females and European females being interested in sports news. M:Metrics notes that “content appetites are more influenced by gender than geography, with the rankings of browser content consumed being nearly identical among American and European consumers of the same gender”.
