Kontraband On Vodafone UK

By James Quintana Pearce - Thu 16 Nov 2006 11:15 AM PST

Viral content website Kontraband has signed a deal to get onto Vodafone Live in the UK, through a deal with FoneStarz. “Under the deal, Vodafone subscribers will be able to access cutting edge content including viral clips, animations, home movies and funny ads.” Users will be able to “share funny videos with friends via MMS” similar to the way they do with e-mail online. It’s unclear what sort of revenue deals are sorted about, but Kontraband gets money from companies “seeding virals”, so an extra distribution channel is good news for it, and Vodafone gets free content.
“Positioning Kontraband as a mobile brand is one of our major ambitions for 2006, we have deals in the UK, South America, Japan and in final talks with a USA mobile platform,” said Richard Spalding, co-founder, Kontraband.
