KPN Launches I-mode On WAP

By James Quintana Pearce - Wed 31 May 2006 07:06 AM PST

Dutch operator KPN has launched a new portal, Mobiel Startsite, which will “make i-mode content accessible for non i-mode customers. KPN subscribers or prepaid users with a WAP enable handset, can access up to fifty i-mode sites, news and “538 ringtunes”. It is also available from KPN prepaid”.
It seems to be win-win, giving KPN a bunch of made-for-mobile sites and the content vendors more potential customers, but the folks over at i-mode business strategy suggest it will “simply add further confusion to the marketing, sales and promotion of i-mode and WAP”.
