Macromedia Acquires UK UI Firm Mobile Innovation

By Rafat Ali - Thu 20 Oct 2005 09:10 AM PST

Macromedia, in the process of being bought out by Adobe, has bought out Bracknell, UK-based mobile UI design firm Mobile Innovation. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Thanks to Mobile Innovation’s acumen in UI design and implementation, Macromedia will improve its ability to provide customers and partners with a platform for launching mobile applications and other forms of rich media based on its flagship Flash technology, or so it says. Under that deal, Mobile Innovation uses Macromedia Flash as a preferred development tool in place of C++ for creating UI applications for mobile devices.
The acquisition will also create a mobile consulting practice for Macromedia and will form part of the Macromedia Consulting team in EMEA. Matt Millar, Mobile Innovation co-founder and CTO, will lead the practice for Macromedia in EMEA.
