Canadian operator Telus has launched a subscription mobile music store, according to Mobile Entertainment. This adds to Telus’s existing pay-per-download service, and will offer full tracks from the four major labels. It’s powered by Musiwave, with DRM by SDC. The press release tells us that the service costs CAD$20 per month (US$17.52)—broken down into a $15 music content charge plus a $5 download charge, and is on three handsets including the LG Chocolate.
Vodafone NZ has launched a music store, offering dual downloads for NZ$1.99 (US$1.32). “Vodafone Music has a catalogue of over 500,000 tracks from the world’s top four music labels EMI, Universal Music, Sony BMG, Warner Music plus key independents from around the world and some of New Zealand’s hottest local content.” Perhaps more tellingly, ringtones cost $4.50 each for realtones and $3.50 each for polyphonics, while full albums go for $17.99.
