DVB-H has the Mobile DTV Alliance, MediaFLO has the FLO Forum, and now SK Telecom, Toshiba, Glocal Media and International Mobile Broadcasting have joined forces to create the Pan Asian Mobile TV consortium to promote S-DMB throughout Asia. At least, that’s what the release sounds like, although it could be a commercial partnership to launch a service.
“The Pan Asian Mobile TV consortium is the region’s first enabler for a regional mobileTV service. The initiative will contribute to the public by providing mobile learning, and disaster prevention media. Pan Asian Mobile TV will be able to contribute to the mutual understanding and the unification of this region through content reciprocity,” said Tom Navasero, Project leader. SK Telecom is the largest mobile operator in Sth Korea, Toshiba is heavily involved in DMB, Glocal Media is a content aggregator and International Mobile Broadcasting hold Asian mobile TV licenses and spectrum.
