Player X Plans Retrosodes For Knight Rider, Magnum PI

By James Quintana Pearce - Thu 02 Nov 2006 09:10 AM PST

UK company Player X has signed a deal with Universal Mobile Entertainment to produce mobile video content based on the hit 80s shows Knight Rider and Magnum PI. They’re calling the two-minute video clips retrosodes, and say that the first animated series will contain ten original shorts that will take a tongue-in-cheek approach to the old hits. The series will “launch across all networks in Q1 2007 with integrated marketing support”, in multiple countries.
From the press release: “Retrosodes represent the best concept in short-form, made-for-mobile storytelling we’ve ever seen,” said Jeremy Laws, Senior Vice President Universal Mobile Entertainment.  “We think this is a great opportunity to break through the clutter of repurposed content and do something fresh and relevant appropriate with some great classic brands.”
