Senior Focused MVNO Jitterbug/GreatCall Gets $36.6 Million Funding

By Rafat Ali - Wed 08 Aug 2007 01:07 PM PST

Jitterbug, the senior-focused MVNO, run by the company GreatCall, has received about $36.6 million in funding, reports PEHub. The round was led by Charles River Ventures, Nauta Partners and Steelpoint Capital Partners. The Del Mar, CA-based company provides mobile phones and services for seniors, simplified for their use. The menu system on the two Samsung-manufactured handsets have been replaced by a series of questions with a yes or no response and as much of the service as possible has been removed from the handset and put on the web, to be modified by the uses, or a son or daughter could set it up for their parents. Other features: Pushing a button will bring calling assistance quickly...an operator could place a call for the user.

Do not go with the phone.  it’s a scam.  The company is looking hard to buy-out.  The senior executives all want to “get rich quick”.  GO with a reliable carrier.

There is not substance to the company—it’s all smoke and mirrors and they give you a wonderful dog and pony show.  For some reason, they cannot even get the billing straight.  The CSRs are rude!  You will spend more time and money in frustration than anything else.  Go to a more reliable carrier like SPRINT or T-MOBILE or VERIZON.
