Warner Music Group artists such as Linkin Park will be airing original video content on MobiTV’s subscriber-based mobile and broadband platforms starting in February as part of a deal announced today.
MobiTV’s 1 million subscribers currently can download content from Warner Music’s video library to their computers and cell phones. The deal provides MobiTV with specially-produced content, which could include behind-the-scenes artist news and other programming not available elsewhere. The programming will be updated monthly. Some of the artists on Warner Music’s roster expected to generate content for MobiTV include Green Day, Mana, My Chemical Romance, Pretty Ricky and Red Hot Chili Pepper. Aside from the alt-rock represented by that list, the label will also develop content from other genres, including hip hop, metal and pop. Release
